The First
Greetings,
Wishing I had something so profound to voice it would shake mountains, but I do not. Its just me. And as my name would suggest I am a highly educated person living a displaced life. In the wake of all that has and is continuing to happen on the international front like the recent tsunami disasters my problems are tediously miniscule.
I am an instructor at a local community college. I believe in the work, and after a solid year of teaching I am pretty good at holding together the mutinous day students. But I live well below the poverty level for a singel person and have no benefits and no job security. Currently, the faculty union are on Work-to-Rule, which basically means we only do what is in our contract. We do not hold departmental meetings and so adjuncts like myself are really in the dark about effective crowd control and teaching methods. Sure, I read journals and websites, but I would rather talk with a live person.
Later you will see posts this year about my classes and my constant struggle to get out from under the money burden. There are a lot of cards on the table.
I am actually much funnier than this. I think I am still reeling from the State of the Union.
Well, dry or not ...the first post to my one and only blog.
